Sam Walton’s Rule #10: “Swim Upstream. Go the other way. Ignore the conventional wisdom.” This is something I live by. To me, it means follow your own way. It also means, to me, that just because something looks hard doesn’t make it impossible. I weighed 346 pounds when I started ZP Challenge. My legs, my knees and pretty much everything hurt. The doctors told me there was nothing they could do for me. I was just too heavy. I needed to relieve the pressure on my body. My mother was too heavy and had a whole list of health problems. She died at 53 years old. I watched her do one crazy diet after another and I didn’t want to go down that road. I read about real people achieving amazing things in the ZP books and I dedicated myself to being a healthier me. I watch what I eat and my portion sizes. Lunch time was a big battle, but I have things like a tuna salad pita versus going out for fast food. Healthy food helps sustain your energy throughout the day. I save money not going out, too. I started going to the gym to work out. My schedule is crazy so I go at 4 a.m. every morning. I go with a friend for support. It’s a great little gym and I keep going. I’ve made good connections and I’m learning new things. ZP has helped mekeep track. It’s a terrific reminder to be healthy. The best thing about ZP is it’s not a certain, specific thing. It’s all about makingbetter choices that work for you.
- My total weight loss is 115 pounds.
- I’ve found healthier ways to eat and I’m still trying new things.
- I started going to the gym and I love it.
- I didn’t set out to win anything but my health back, so I was teary-eyed when I won $5,000.
I didn’t want to be in the slow lane any more. I want to be in the fast lane. Because I’m not sitting on the couch any more, I am able to join my family doing all kinds of things. For years my husband has wanted to go white-water rafting and ziplining. I couldn’t go because of the weight limit and he wouldn’t go without me. We were finally able to go this year for my 40th birthday and wehad a bit of an accident river rafting. Now, we joke that almost drowning together really brought us closer. ZP has strengthened my 21-year marriage. I’ve never been a part of anything like this. It’s all so exciting. Thanks to Walmart, ZP costs us nothing and it’s about helping associates live better inside and outside of work. You can achieve any goal with ZP.
