I’ve struggled with my weight most of my life. The turning point for me was in August when my doctor told me that I was pre-diabetic. It stung to hear, but I started taking baby steps to make changes. The ZP stories were inspirational to me. You see people just like you who have had to start new habits. I decided if they could do it, so could I. Diet changes have been big for me, but I’m also working out more. I actually have more energy on days I workout than on days I don’t! My weight has already dropped from 212 down to 198. My A1C is lower now too. I feel better than I have in a long time. It’s great to look in the mirror and like what I see!

I’m eating better these days. I used to eat a lot of fast food and loved things like hamburgers, pizza and hot dogs. Bread and pastas were favorites too. Now I’m focused on eating a lot of protein from chicken, seafood or turkey. I’m adding more green vegetables to my diet and have cut sugar completely out. I don’t even really crave sweets anymore. If I go for pasta, it’s always whole wheat. It feels really good when people stop to tell me they can tell I’ve lost weight. But I never thought in a million years that I would be a ZP Winner. I couldn’t even believe it when I found out I had won $5,000! I’m hoping to use the prize money to help with a down payment on a house. I’ve learned that nothing happens overnight and sometimes you’re going to slip. Just pick yourself back up and take it one day at a time.
